This summer past gave me the greatest opportunity ever to explore, at leisure, that part of the southern Turkish coast best described as the borderlands of ancient Caria and ancient Lycia. That’s where the two realms once met and where, historians tell us, some very fierce battles were fought during the Persian and Roman Conquests.
